“A well-known Borough boozer that was saved from demolition this year thanks to a new team, who will continue the pub’s impressive legacy. Having been situated here on Lant Street since the nineteenth century (with a rebuild in the ’20s) The Glad is named after four-time former prime minister William Gladstone and even gets a mention in ‘The Pickwick Papers’ as Charles Dickens once lived on the same road.

Nowadays the place is better known for its musical connection, housing its own record label and regularly hosting live gigs. With regards to the food and drink on offer, there is a focus on craft beer and small plates.”
